For lovers
of hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing
Because
massif of Beskydy mountains, Javorniks and Vsetins Hills offers tens
of trails, I chose for you the most interesting ones also with an itinerary.
One -
day hikes
Trail
of God Radegast ( 10,5 km ).
This trail is wonderful. It takes about 3 hours to get to the top of
the sacred mountain Radhošť (1129 m) the most popular mountain in Beskydy.
We begin
to walk from the town Rožnov pod Radhoštěm (the heart of Beskydy). For
snack we make a short break in a local traditional Wallachian restaurant
called " Chata Mír", in English " Cottage of Peace". By walking through
the woods and picking wood berries and mushrooms we finally reach the
top. And with that the wide land opens in front of us with breathtaking
views of the entire mountain range. The old famous chapel of the missionaries
from Greece Cyril and Method and wooden belfry made this mountain popular
and attract a lot of tourists from far-away. For lunch we stop in mountain
hotel Radegast named after Slavonic god of fertility in both meanings.
After lunch we walk on towards the Pustevny the place where outstanding
folk structures stand. We can return to the town by bus or on foot.
Grúň
and Bílý kříž / Trail to the White Cross ( 21 km)
This
trail is nice and offers wonderful outlooks. We start in Bílá . The
first award for our climbing will be nice open landscape and shortly
afterwards cool beer or lemonade in restaurant which is hidden in the
woods on the ridge Grúň. Another few kilometres which are in front of
us are more enjoyable, because of outstanding scenes that Moravia and
Slovakia render. The main company makes you the highest peak Lysá hora
1323 m . After half-way of the path is placed a research station that
studies for example the influence of CO2 on the environment. Take this
way and you will learn the legend of the White cross.
The
trail of rebel Ondráš /Reservoir Šance to Lysá Mountain 1323 m (12 km)
From
the community Ostravica we start to walk on an instructive path that
gives you many essential information about local nature and the relation
people have to it. Lovely views of the large man-made reservoir Šance
nicely located in a valley under Lysá peak will amaze you. We can climb
3 hours to reach its top. This mountain plays also the main role in
a legend about a rebel Ondráš who lived with his group in local woods
. Here exists also a legend about the rise of the river Ostravica.
From
Soláň 861 m to Velké Karlovice ( 7 km )
In the morning we take a bus to Soláň, the top of Vsetins hills. Soláň
is a main sports territory with ideal conditions for downhill skiing,
cross country skiing, mountain biking, hiking. In surroundings of Soláň
can be still seen remains of former wallachian life. In 3 hours we get
to the community Velké Karlovice that has a large number of unique wooden
structures including a log church with a parish from the year 1752,
Wallachian town hall and some old still residential houses . Also the
National natural reservation Razula is in vicinity. Back we may walk
or take a bus.
The
trail of artists /Soláň - Bumbálka via Benešky (14 km)
Before
we start, we may toughen up with an original taste of walachian cabbage
soup in the traditional local restaurant. Then we can move forward to
Slovak border Bumbálka. Among the most picturesque views belong the
scenery from Benešky and then Vysoká (1024 m). This area is so amazing,
that proves the fact, that in the past local famous artists , whose
works were strongly influenced by local land found home here.
On
Czech and Slovakia border /Bumbálka - Bílá via Bobek 871 m (12 km)
The
closer Slovakia is to me the better feeling I have. It is because from
here I can almost reach mountain ridge Malá Fatra. We need to set up
in the morning in order to manage it all. To see the sunrise or sunset
is unforgettable experience. All the time we will be accompanied with
beautiful scenery of local nature especially when we reach the point
Bobek where on the one side dominates Lysá mt.1323 and on the other
side Great Fatra massif. On some places in the valleys, meadows and
pastures stand old wooden cottages and grazing ship or goats around.
Up
to Devils Mill 1205 m / Pustevny - Martiňák (12 km)
It
is really nice to hike up to Devils Mill, the forested mountain named
after one legend about devil, who wanted to build a mill here. You can
see here a natural curiosity of - Godul sandstone. We start on Pustevny
and finish in Horní Bečva. Alongside the path still grow protected former
fir and beech trees dwarfed by wind and weather. Therefore is this territory
a National natural reservation. We stop for refreshment on cottage on
the end of our hike.
Pustevny
- Kněhyně 1256 m (3,5 km)
At
first we make a walk around Pustevny and we stop in Libušín for a tea
or coffee . In this program we include a short hike to look-out tower
Cyrilka. Then we move forward Kněhyně (1256 m) from which we can enjoy
terrific panoramas of the massif Czech and Slovak mountain ridges. We
return to Pustevny for lunch in Libušín. Down to town we may take a
bus.
Trail of Paragliders / on the High Javorník 917m (10 km)
Don't worry, we won't take part in such an adventure! We start our walk
early in the morning from the place called Pindula. By the noon we reach
the top of High Javorník so that we can admire surrounding landscape,
historical towns and brave paragliders. On the top there is a chalet
for refreshments. On the way back we can spend some time in Koliba (
kind of restaurant in wallachian style offering traditional food specialities.).
